Dhaka: Bangladesh has adopted the path followed by West Bengal Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee through her ‘safe drive save life’ scheme. Banerjee had instructed
petrol-pump officials to not provide petrol from the pumping stations to anyone who
does not wear helmets. This announcement had put the bike-riders into trouble.
Bangladesh decided to adopt this measure.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohammad Achadujjaman Miyan instructed
officials that those who do not wears helmet will not get any fuel for their
vehicles.

The commissioner made this announcement at a press conference on the traffic
condition on September. He said, “Meanwhile, I have instructed all the petrol pump
officials that if one does not wear any helmet then no official should provide his
motor-cycle with any fuel.”

According to reports, this instruction is already being followed in Dhaka.
