Bail Elixir: Madan Released From SSKM

Kolkata: A day after securing bail after spending almost 11 months behind the bars for his alleged involvement in Saradha scam, West Bengal transport minister and Trinamool leader Madan Mitra has been released from SSKM Hospital on Sunday. Madan moved to his Bhawanipu home on an ambulance from the hospital.

Hundreds of Madan Mitra’s supporters flocked his Bhawanipur residence after he arrived home. Again claiming his innocence Madan after the release said that ultimately truth prevailed. He also said that his medication will go on as per the advice of the medical board of the hospital.

CPM leader Mohammad Salim terming the entire development a political gimmick said, “The hospital’s fit certificate to Madan is nothing but a political game. The treatment is also staged to extract political benefit.”

Congress leader Abdul Mannan has termed the entire episode a political patch-up. He said. “It is really strange that Madan became fit just a day after getting bail.”

On the other hand West bengal CM Mamata Banerjee refused to comment on Madan’s release. Mamata said,” As the matter is under the jurisdiction of the court it would not be appropriate for me to comment.”

The Alipur session court approved bail on Saturday. The Judge Partha Das granted bail on personal bond for Rs 2 lakhs. Another accused businessman Sandhir Agarwal also gets bail on personal bond for Rs. 3 lakhs on the same day.

CBI arrested Madan Mitra on 12 December in Sarada scam. His sick petition was approved for most of the time and he was admitted into hospital. As per condition he has to submit his passport to the court. He also restricted to go anywhere outside of the state. He must always help in investigation. He may be free from jail on Sunday morning. After this hearing Madan Mitra burst into tears and said Truth always prevails.

According to the source, the CBI did not participate properly in the hearing on Saturday. Judge rebuked CBI for their role. CBI argued that their Investigation officer IO Phani Bhusan Karan couldn’t present in the state. So the judge decided to grant bail for the petitioners. Opposition political parties like Congress and CPM criticized the role of CBI.
