Kolkata: After the line gets drawn in the 2014-15 I-League, the teams have geared up to set their teams for the next season. The Haitian play maker of Mohun Bagan, Sony Norde has been offered Rs 6 crore for three seasons. According to the deal, Sony will be offered Rs 2 crore in the first season and then the amount will be increased in the consecutive years. The deal if made, will turn out to be the biggest deal ever made in I League history. But Sony has expressed his unwillingness to get into a contract of three years with MB. His close sources have revealed that Norde is eager to play in a European Club. On the other hand, Bagan plans to recover this investment by loaning Sony to an ISL franchise. But the willing ISL clubs have decided to spend Rs 65 lakh only on recruiting the Haitian international. Apart from Sony, Bagan hopes to get Katsumi Yusa in the team for two more seasons. But Katsumi has been offered a hefty sum from Bharat FC and there are talks going on with Bengaluru even. Hence, Yusa has not yet been finalised. Bello Rassaq was boarded last year by Bagan for a sum of Rs 30 lakh. Turning out to be a star, Bello has claimed almost Rs 1 crore from the club. The club is ready to go upto Rs 50 lakh but not 1 crore. Hence, Bello is also in a doubt for the next season.
Bharat FC has already played its card to rope in Trinidad and Tobago’s Cornell Glenn of Shillong Lajong, who scored a hattrick against East Bengal at the hills. Dempo’s Fulgancio Cardozo and Mumbai’s Asutosh Mehta, Justin Stephen and goalie Kuttymani have been sealed by the new corporate team in their second season. BFC have captured Korean striker Kim and fast paced Len for the news season. However, they have released Shaun Rooney. Their striker Sunil Chhetri is in talks with the green and maroons who want to pain Sunil with Balwant in the next season.
In the East Bengal camp, the coach dilemma has taken a new turn as Trevor James Morgan has confirmed about the preliminary talks with the club officials. On the other hand, Subhash Bhowmick is also in the fray to become the new coach of the Red and Golds. It is up to the sponsors now on who will make the final cut. In terms of footballer, Rahul Beke of Mumbai FC and Bikash Jaiswal of Salgaocar have been signed as of now. The management is hoping to rope in Pronay Hader and Narayan Das of Dempo as the team has been relegated.
