Kolkata: State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on Saturday suggested a new proposal to prevent clashes during the student’s union election in the education institutes in the state.
Addressing the media in Nabanna, Partha said that the clashes between various students group will substantially decline if the college elections in the districts are held on the same day. He also favoured the online admission procedure in the colleges.
However, Partha’s proposition has been sternly rejected by the intellectual class, which said that unless the political interference in the education institutes are eradicated, violence will prevail.
It is to be noted that the education institutes in West Bengal have recently been transformed into battle grounds of rival political parties like Trinamool and CPM. Recently the Raiganj College has witnessed violent clashes, where rivals hurled bombs at each other and fired shots.
Krishna Prasad Jana, a student of Sabang College and a worker of Congress backed Chatra Parishad was allegedly killed by Trinamool’s student wing TMCP.
