Kolkata: Countering the bandh called by the BJP in the state on Wednesday the state government has taken measures to provide secured transportation to the commuters. Proper numbers of additional buses, trams and water transport will be available for the commoners.
The state transport minister Suvendu Adhikari said that, “There will be four thousand government buses on the street today. Comparing to other days there will be additional 800 buses. In Sealdah and Howrah there will additional buses. 50 Additional trams will run in Kolkata.”
Apart from this, additional water transport will be available in Kolkata and adjoining areas. 45 additional vessels will run. The state government has said that insurance will be arranged if vehicles are vandalized.
Control room will be available in every district of Kolkata.
Due to such government measures the transport department employees stayed back in their office on Tuesday. Many employees spend the night in Nabanna.
