Australia thrash England at Melbourne

Melbourne: Australia opened their World Cup campaign with a convincing win as allrounder Mitchell Marsh claimed five wickets after Aaron Finch smashed an aggressive century to lead a 111-run victory over England on Saturday.

Finch made 135 and Glenn Maxwell (66) and captain George Bailey (55) posted half centuries in front of a crowd of more than 84,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to guide Australia through an early collapse and to a total of 342 for 9. However, Steven Finn claimed the first hattrick of WC15.

On the other hand, England’s innings got over in the forty second over with only 231 on the board.

Aaron Finch was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant century.
