Sydney: Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson today announced his retirement from all international cricket at the end of the ongoing Test against New Zealand.
“I feel now is the best time to say goodbye,” the 34-year-old veteran of 73 Tests said in a statement ahead of the fifth day’s play at Perth’s WACA Ground.
“It’s been an incredible ride. But the ride has to come to an end at some point and to do so here at the WACA is very special.Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar today paid tribute to retiring Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson, describing him as a special bowler.
“Good luck to @MitchJohnson398 who has always been a special bowler. Got to know him well at @mipaltan and enjoyed his aggressive approach!” Tendulkar tweeted about the cricketer who played for Mumbai Indians as well in his IPL stint.
