Kolkata: An incident of acid attack took place on Panditiya road in the city triggering panic among locals. Three including two girls have been injured in the incident. It took place on Sunday night when some unidentified miscreants hurled acid on the victims from a running taxi.
According to police, the victims were walking at around 9:30 pm when the miscreants, travelling in a taxi, threw acid on them. Three including two girls have been injured in the incident. Some of the victims suffered serious burn injuries on their faces and various parts of their bodies.
The victims were taken to Ramakrishna Mission Seva Prathisthan Hospital and then to SSKM Hospital, where they were discharged after first aid.
They managed flee by the time locals intercepted it. The taxi driver also managed to escape by biting the hand of a person who tried to catch him. An irate mob then ransacked the taxi. Police reached the spot and seized the vehicle. No one has been arrested yet.
Police are also checking the closed-circuit television or CCTV camera footage from the entire stretch from Panditia to Kalighat where the taxi was intercepted.
