Asaram’s appeal to attend Gandhinagar court rejected

Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court has refused to let self Styled Godman Asaram to travel to Gandhinagar while a court there has been awaiting framing of charges over allegations of rape against him.

Asaram had moved to Rajasthan HC after Additional Destict and Sessions court had rejected the application by the Jodhpur jail authorities seeking permission to send him to Gandhinagar for charge framing.

Additional Advocate General Rajesh Panwar said, “The petition has been moved by Asaram who has no locus standi to move such a petition. Only the concerned court could come forward with this plea to allow Asaram to appear there and that too through production warrant.”

He also added that the trail of the case is taking place on a day to day basis in Rajasthan and if he is allowed to go to Gandhinagar it will hamper the proceedings of the case in Jodhpur.
