New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is set to undergo a kidney transplant surgery on Saturday at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Jaitley, 65, was admitted to AIIMS on Friday evening and is scheduled to undergo a kidney transplant operation on Saturday.
The union finance minister has been suffering from a kidney ailment and has not been going to office since Monday. Due to kidney ailment he even did not take oath of office after being re-elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh last month.
Jaitley had to cancel his London visit next week for the annual economic dialogue next week. On Thursday, the union minister confirmed that he is suffering from a kidney ailment and had said that he is receiving treatment. Jaitley in 2015 had underwent a gastric bypass weight loss surgery.
“I am being treated for kidney related problems and certain infections that I have contracted. I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me,” he tweeted.
