Burdwan: Arrested for clashes between CPM and Trinamool on Saturday at Kalnagate, Councilor Shaeed Muhammad Salim gets bail on Sunday by Burdwan CGM court, said sources. While he walks free, the rest of the arrested supporters are still in jail.
On Saturday Nineteen were arrested for clashes between CPM and Trinamool at Kalnagate and ordered two days jail. On Sunday afternoon supporters of both the parties showed unrest in front of the court demanding release of the arrested supporters. Police dispersed the crowd.
Later the arrested 20 supporters were produced in Burdwan CGM court. Among them were 10 CPM workers and 10 Trinamool workers including Councilor Shaeed Muhammad Salim.
On Saturday after the clash between CPM and Trinamool, Kalna gate turned into a battlefield. Burst of bombs, bullets and bricks created fury. Few places were also burnt down. Police had lathi charged to bring situation under control. 30 people were arrested yesterday, out of which 10 were released.
