Mannan ruled out the presence of Manas during the time of incident. He said that Manas was atleast 30 kms away from the place of murder. He allegedly accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of giving directions for filing numerous cases against Congress leaders including the one against the vice chairman of Kandi municipality and many more. He assured that they would fight till the end against this attitude of the government. He also raised allegations about the ‘underground alliance’ between the state government and the centre.

Medinipur: Medinipur CJM court issued an arrest warrant against Manas Bhuiya on Monday over the Sabang Incident where a TMC leader was brutally murdered on April 8..

As per sources, the Medinipur court issued the warrant over the murder of a TMC leader. The incident took place a night before the phase 2 of the West Bengal Assembly Elections, that is, on April 8. Mr Jana was returning from a campaign rally when he was allegedly attacked with bamboo sticks and iron rods by a group of people. He died on the spot.

Ahead of the second phase of polling in the state , Jaydeb Jana, a local Trinamool Congress leader was attacked and killed in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal.  The family of Joydeb Jana, 30, had alleged it a case of political violence and named former state Congress chief Manas Bhuniya and his brother Bikash among 23 people for the alleged murder.  The family of the deceased filed a written complaint post the incident. Based on the complaint, the arrest warrant was issued on Monday.

According to Trinamool Congress leader from Sabang, Nirmal Ghosh, the attack was spearheaded by Manas Bhuinya and Congress-Left alliance workers.

“He was beaten to death when he returned from election campaign last night. Manas Bhuinya is behind this brutal attack. Congress and Left workers helped him to attack our party worker. They are attacking our party workers as they know that they are going to lose elections,” said Ghosh.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked for the Election Commission’s intervention. “EC must take appropriate action immediately. This is a result of Md Salim’s revenge remark. An innocent person lost his life,” she said blaming CPM lawmaker Mohammed Salim.

However, Bhuinya had ruled out the allegations, saying he was not involved in the attack. “I was campaigning at Pingla when the attack took place,” Bhuinya said. Congress leaders said had said that the case was a political conspiracy and their workers were nowhere close to the scene of crime.
