Kolkata: TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay’s alleged involvement in the Rose Valley scam led to his arrest on Tuesday morning. CBI conducted two sessions of interrogation and were seemingly unsatisfied by the selective disclosure of information.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee countered all allegations and called it a political vengeance against TMC. She went on to say that the chitfund industry played foul during CPIM regime and such arrests are an attempt to intimidate TMC.
She seeks arrests of Modi, Amit Shah, CPM MLA Sujon Chakraborty and BJP MP Babul Supriyo. She warned of regular protests commencing from Wednesday.
An emergency meeting has been called upon with the party MLAs.
Mamata while addressing the press said that there has been no growth in chit fund firms since they came to power in 2011. They have come out with a law against the chit fund scams and they don’t endorse it.So how can a TMC member be involved in such a scam?
“If the Rose Valley scam is claimed to be one of the largest fraudulent scandals, how are the home grown channel Rupashi Bangla and News Time are still telecasting. Better arrest Rupa Ganguly and Babul Supriyo who perform in such channels. The arrest of Sudip came as a shock to me”, she rants. She went on to ask why is Adani roaming free despite involvement in alleged manhandling of funds.
She challenged Modi claiming the TMC is not indulging in any unlawful activities and that he cannot suppress the voice of the people. People of India will not spare Modi on the economic terror he had unleashed.
“CBI has informed me about impending arrests of many TMC MLAs . I urge Modi to look into his own illicit activities rather than curbing TMC’s protests,” she added.
