Army to Train Bengal Youths to Counter Mao Menace


Kolkata: As per a new initiative, jointly discussed by the West Bengal government and military officials to tackle the rising Mao threat in the state, the army is going to impart combat training to the youths of Naxal infested districts of Jungle Mahal which includes West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.

As per reports, a key meet was held on Tuesday at Nabanna between top military officials and state government representatives. It is reported that the state will fund the establishment of special camps by army in Jungle Mahal.

Though funded by West Bengal government the camps will be operated by the military to impart combat training to the youths and will facilitate future recruitment in armed forces.

It has been reported that if everything goes according to the plan the camp is likely to start operating after the durga puja. Although more details are not yet revealed it is not clear whether the youths will be provided arms or not.
