Bankura: Firearms were recovered at Sarulia jangal in Bankura’s Sarenga police station area on Thursday. Sarenga Police recovered a gun and cartridge in front of a irrigation canal. But no person was arrested in this incident.
Acting on a tip off, Sarenga police raid the jungle and recovered one pistol and cartooz file. Once Maoist-dominated region, now turned into a better place. But question raises about how this firearm came into the area. It is being investigated by the police whether the firearms were used during Maoist activities.
Khatra Sub-divisional officer, Vivek Verma, told the Kolkata 24 × 7 that the naka checking was going on continuously in the Jungle Mahal of West Midnapore-Bankura border. The search operation was further extended after this incident. CCTV will be installed quickly in those areas where CCTV is not installed.
