Bhubaneswar: Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal tendered an unconditional apology for his threat to kill CPI-M workers and having their women raped after he was asked by an embarrassed party leadership to do so following widespread outrage.
In a great relief for Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Pal, who was arrested for his link with the Rose Valley Chit Fund scam, Orissa High Court granted him conditional bail on Thursday. Pal was released on Saturday night from a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was taken away by a ambulance.
Some remarks made by me in the heat and dust of the election campaign have caused dismay and consternation. I apologise unreservedly for them. Whatever the provocation — and there was an attempt at provocation — those comments should never have been made.
He further added that he was in deep pain in the jail, physically he is too down to walk. He has back pain and his nerve is not working properly, the Actor cried and uttered,
The Orissa HC directed Pal to deposit Rs 2 lakh in court as surety as well as two other personal sureties. Besides, the TMC MP has been directed to deposit Rs 1 crore in the bank and submit his passport to the investigating officer.
The CBI had arrested the actor-turned- politician on December 30, 2016 after marathon interrogation in Kolkata. It is alleged that Tapas Pal gained undue financial benefits from the Rose Valley Group.
