Kolkata: Ruby Roy, widow of Sanjoy Roy whose death due to alleged medical negligence promoted the government to bring a new legislation to reign in the private hospitals, was on Thursday given an appointment letter of the government job in Tourism department by CM Mamata Banerjee.
Twenty-five-year-old widow Ruby Roy holding her 18 months of baby on her lap arrived at Nabanna, the state secretariat at Howrah, this morning and was handed over her appointment letter by the chief minister herself.
Mamata Banerjee had assured the weeping widow that the government was always with her at the time disaster when her husband died of alleged medical negligence by Apollo Gleaneagles Hospitals on EM Bypass. Ruby Roy was given job at the state tourism department, a source at Nabanna said.
The joint team is expected to visit the hospital today to examine the documents, related to treatment facilities given to Sanjoy Roy.
The probe already exposed the hospital of charging much more money than spent and forced the patient relatives to deposit FD and ID until all dues are paid in cash, which delayed in releasing the patient to another hospital and in course of time Sanjoy Roy collapsed. Police also quiz CEO Rana Dasgupta and former CEO Rupali Basu in relations to the investigation.
