Jalpaiguri: A retired tea worker of Duncan group’s Bagracote tea garden died at his residence in Tea garden’s Churchline on Tuesday due to lack of money and treatment, said sources. The name of the dead worker is Bondhein Ora (75). According to sources, the deceased worker was ill for 12 years since he had no money for treatment.
As per the deceased’s son Silachon Ora’s allegation, even though the tea garden is officially open there is no work in the tea garden, hence no money, no fulltime meals. According to Mal block Health department, the worker died due to old age.
On the same day,Dooar’s closed state government owned Red Bank Tea garden’s Church line’s Worker Chintamoni Ora(50) died. According to Health department, he died due to heart attack. But Chintamoni Ora’s Son Moni Ora alleges that due to lack of money he could not afford treatment which resulted in his father’s death.
