Kolkata: The All-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna on Saturday continued for nearly two and half hours. The government has claimed the all-party meet to be successful but on 18 August an all-party meet will again be held to discuss the flood situation.
After the meeting Opposition Leader Surya Kanta Mishra said, “All party meet on flood situation can’t be conducted like this. Only legislative level meet can bring a solution. We have demanded a state level All party meet.”
Mishra said that the suggestion was accepted by the Chief Minister. An all-party meet will again be conducted on August 18 but it is not clear which parties will be present in the meeting. Among those present in the meeting were RSP leader Subhash Naskar, Morcha leader Harka Bahadur, leader of Congress in Legislative Assembly Mohammad Shorab, BJP MLA shamik Bhattacharya, SUCI’s tarun Naskar and representatives from the CPI and Forward Bloc. Apart from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Subrata Mukherjee, Arup Biswas, Partha Chatterjee and few other important ministers were present in Saturday’s meeting.
