Srinagar: The self-proclaimed savior of Islamic culture and separatist leader Asiya Andrabi has now set her hawkish eyes on the New Year celebrations in the valley.
The Dukhtran-e-Millat chief has asked the people of Gulmarg to stay away from the celebration and termed the programme as RSS agenda to export ‘lewd’ un-Islamic culture in the valley.
Andrabi said, “A night-long programme is being organized by a unknown group ‘Kashmiriyat’ on December 31 at a ski-resort in Gulmarg is an ‘cultural onslaught’. It is nothing but a RSS plot to thrust its agenda on Kashmir.”
Andrabi said the program is being sponsored by few Urdu and English dailies and TV channels and in the name of art, music and comedy, “shameless” actors of Bollywood have been invited.
“It is a clear attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris,” she said urging people to remain away from such programmes at any cost.
She said that the real culture of Kashmir is related to Islam where there is no place to celebrate events like new year.
“These events can be important for the ‘Brahman’ culture but they do not have any connection with Islam. This program is not a ‘parwaaz’ (flight) of Kashmir but the parwaaz of a vulture which is always destined towards filth,” she said.
At the same time, Andrabi’s statements came under fire from the National Conference as well with NC leader Junaid Mattu saying, “Asiya has crossed line between expressing individual opinion and threatening young children, putting their lives in harm’s way.”
