New Delhi: After Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s death on Sunday, tributes poured in from across the country for the popular leader who had also served as the Defence Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Parrikar who lost life’s battle to cancer had been in and out of hospitals since February 2018.
Political leaders from across the party lines paid their respects to the 63-year-old BJP leader.Not just political leaders, brands also joined the country to mourn the loss of the three-time Goa Chief Minister.

India’s largest dairy brand Amul also paid tribute to Manohar Parrikar through their cartoon ad. The latest cartoon ad features the former Goa CM Parrikar working at his desk. The black and white cartoon has a Goa map in the backdrop, with a tag line: ‘Har Goan ka Manohar’
Parrikar was cremated with full state and military honours at Miramar Beach on Monday. He was the second serving chief minister to be cremated at Miramar Beach, the first being Goa’s first CM Dayanand Bandodkar.
While thousands of people in the state gathered to pay last respects to the former Defense Minister, many took to social media to bid adieu to Parrikar. Despite being ill, a frail Parrikar presented the state budget two months ago. Parrikar joined the RSS at a young age and became a chief instructor in his final year of school. He managed a private business after graduating from IIT Bombay and became a local director of the RSS, aged 26.
In 1994 he was elected to the Goa assembly and became chief minister in 2000. In 2014, he joined as Union Defence Minister, but quit in 2017, opting to go back to his state and served as the Chief Minister till his death.
