AMRI Mukundapur Unit Head Suspended

Kolkata: The management of AMRI Hospitals Mukundapur in Kolkata has suspended its unit head and associate vice-president Jayanti Chatterjee for misbehaving with the bereaved parents of a child on Friday.

The hospital sources said that Chatterjee will remain under suspension till the time the probe panel submits its report. She will be reinstated only if the panel gives her a clean chit.

The move comes after deceased Oyetri’s mother Shampa Dey during the day threatened to start a fast-unto-death unless the hospital removed the unit head, Jayanti Chatterjee, within 48-hours.

Earlier, The child’s parents Jayanta and Shampa petitioned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state health regulatory commission accusing the hospital of causing the death of their daughter through wrong treatment. They filed an FIR against the hospital as well.
