Kolkata: With the statue vandalisation of social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at Collge Street area, several protest programme are slated throughout the city. People will face a rush hour on Wednesday, says Kolkata Traffic Police.
Students of several colleges will walk the city street wearing black badge. On the other hand, political parties will hold Lok Sabha campaign proring to the last and seventh phase of election in Bengal.
A protest rally will come out from College Square at 9:30 am on this morning where a road block is expected. Another group of students will protest yeterday’s incident in front of University of Calcutta which will go till Hedua via Bidhan Sarani.
On Thursday, a political party’s protest rally will start from Lenin statue which will move to Bidhan Sarani via Shayambazar Metro Station, Wellington Square, Nirmal Chandra Street, College Street.
Another procession will start from Beliaghata Gandhi Bhavan at around 4:30 pm in the afternoon via beliaghata main road, Rajendralal Mitra Road, CIT Road, Phoolbagan crossing, Kankurgachi, Manicktala crossing, Vivekananda Road, Bidhan Sarani, Shyambazar Five Point Crossing it will ends at Vivekanada’s father’s house near Simla Pally.
A rally slated at 5:30 pm from Bidon Street which will end at Bidhan Sarani crossing Bagbazar. A meeting in front of Bengal Chamber of Commerce may cause traffic congestion at around 6 pm.
