Aligarh: Tension is boiling at Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh after police failed to nab the culprits who gangraped and murdered a minor girl on Wednesday.
A complaint has been filed against four men but police have failed to arrest even a single person named. Tension has gripped Guru Sikran village since the brutal gangrape and murder of the 17-year-old.
Reports said four men on motorcycle pulled the girl, while she was on her way to a tuition class, into a nearby sugarcane field. They then took turns to rape her and then strangled the girl with her own clothes.
Another girl, who studied in the same tuition class with the victim, saw the men forcing the girl off her cycle. She rushed to the site but couldn’t do much.
Angry villagers blocked the road and did not allow the body to be taken away for post mortem demanding that the criminals should be arrested first.
The body was removed from the spot and sent for autopsy only when Aligarh’s senior superintendent of police, J Ravinder Gaur, reached the village and assured the agitated crowd to arrest the culprits soon. Gaur has also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for anyone giving information about the accused.
