Mumbai: Actress Alia Bhatt said that she is hopeful that something good will come out soon with regard to her film Udta Punjab which has run into trouble with the censor board.
Reports suggested that the Abhishek Chaubey-directed movie has failed to get censor board’s approval due to portrayal of excessive swearing and drug consumption. On Saturday, co-producer Anurag Kashyap tweeted that Udta Punjab was ‘not banned.’
Alia, who stars in the film, did not comment on the reports that censor board has asked for as many as 40 cuts, but said that she is hopeful that everyone will be “happy” by the end of it. “All I want to say is that Anurag Kashyap has tweeted all the information that is true and that is related to the topic right now. There was nothing mentioned about the cuts (in the tweet). It was just that the film has moved on to the revising committee and the due process is on,” Alia told reporters here when she was asked about the controversy.
“Apart from that, it will be wrong for me to say that anything because this is actually what has happened. Let’s wait and watch. Hopefully everyone will be happy,” said Alia. When Alia was asked if she is sad that the film is mired into controversies, she said, “Today is all about smiling, so I will smile. And I am sure you will have a lot of questions answered soon.”
Udta Punjab stars Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan apart from Alia. The film is scheduled to release on June 17.
