Alert, ‘Encounter Man’ Arrives Here


Priyanka Dutta, Lucknow: Just seven years into his service, this blue-eyed boy of the U.P. government with more than 30 encounters (two dead, 28 left injured) in the last three years, is clearly on his mission.

Meet Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma, is an IPS officer of the 2011 batch and the encounter of criminals is considered to be his expertise. Known as an encounter specialist, SSP Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma has been appointed as Noida SSP to tighten control over organized crime and enhance an atmosphere of better industrial development.

“Prime focus is to work on crime control front as well as maintaining law and order with help of strong public involvement and also improve traffic movement”, Dr. Sharma said to Kolkata24x7.

Since the time Yogi Adityanath became chief minister on March 19 last year, the police department has remained in an overdrive mode to smoke out criminals. In Yogi’s regime, SSP Dr. Sharma has been carrying the image of being very strict and no-nonsense official.

Thus he has been entrusted with this ”operation clean-up” by Director General of Police (UP) OP Singh, Dr. Sharma further added “Operation Clean Up is towards providing the basic need to every sphere of securities. Bad elements need to be tackled under all provisions mentioned under law including right to self defence.”

Among top 10 in State Matriculation examination with 100% marks in Maths, Science And English, Topper In Ludhiana, Dr. Sharma loves to listen punjabi and hindi songs that are close to realities of life.

Being a purely vegetarian, when it matters to food this IPS officer said, “Love to have anything that mom makes for me.”

He loves to spend time with family – friends and exploring new places and prefers to tune in Punjabi and Hindi songs that are close to realities of life.
