Kolkata: According to the US embassy’s information on air pollution till November 7, the PM 2.5 level in Kolkata is 176 PM Which is nearly three times high According to ‘Air quality index’. If the PM 2.5 level is between 100 and 200, then he is called ‘Moderate Pollution’. According to the World Health Organization or WHO pollution level, the PM52.5 has a normal level of 60 PM.

Environmentalist Subhas Dutta said, there is a lack of awareness among people to prevent pollution. He also questioned the role of the police, how they came to the market? West Bengal Pollution Control Board Chairman Kalyan Rudra said, that the city and suburbs are being monitored in 21 places and 67 places in West Bengal.

The evening started with the busting of low-decibel crackers and lighting of earthen lamps and for a while, it appeared that Kolkatan’s were probably paying heed to the caution sounded by the Supreme Court and activists working against pollution. But as the evening grew, people started bursting high-decibel sound crackers, making it difficult to sit calmly even indoors. The suffering it is causing to the old and ill people, as well as animals, is simply terrifying.

In the south Kolkata neighbourhood like Garia, Narendrapur, Jadavpur, EM Bypass, Joka, Behala, Haridevpur, etc. and at Manicktala, Kankurgachi, Belgachia, Dum Dum, Belghoria, etc. in north Kolkata the situation is horrifying.
