New Delhi:High alert has been sounded throughout the nation after intelligence agencies warned that Air India’s flight from New Delhi to Kabul may be hijacked by terrorists.
Security has been enhanced at airports throughout the nation and especially at IGI airport in New Delhi and even airport staff are also being checked thoroughly. The authorities have inducted multi step check procedures and are making sure that the procedures are followed strictly.
Also an additional ladder check has been made compulsory which is expected to take up more time than usual. Commandos have been deployed on patrols along the adjoining areas of the airport on LMG mounted vehicles and the number of flight marshals has been increased.
The ground staff has been asked to thoroughly check the baggage of the passengers before letting them board the plane. It is to be noted the Air India office at Kolkata received a threat call yesterday where the caller said that an Air India flight will be hijacked, though no flight was specifically mentioned.
The alert comes at the head of US President Barack Obama’s scheduled visit to the capital as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
