Air India Cracks Whip On Erring Pilots, Warn of Punishment

New Delhi: A series of indiscipline has forced Air India to talk tough. Lately many flights were late or cancelled due to pilots and crew either not reporting to duty or reporting terribly late without any valid reason.

This has cost Air India its image as well as financial loss. Particularly at a time when Air India has got back to operating profit after years for the first time, this is one thing the carrier cannot afford.

Apparently CMD Ashwani Lohani, who is a personal pick of PM Modi has been given a free hand by the highest level. A list of erring pilots already submitted to Lohani who are likely to be suspended. If any revolt takes place, their services can also be terminated which is
extremely unusual for Air India.

Sources from the carrier said that Pilots not reporting to duty at whims and fancy. The CMD had chaired an emergency meet on indiscipline this August.
