Air Force Officer Found Dead In WB’s Fort William


Kolkata: An Air Force officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Officer’s Mess inside Fort William in Kolkata on Sunday morning.

“Around 5 AM we found the body of Wing Commander SVR Moorthy close to the officer’s quarter inside Fort William. His body has been sent for post mortem and we have informed the local police,”Wing Commander SS Birdi said.

“As per circumstantial evidences it appears that he fell down from the balcony of his quarter. It seems like an accident. For further details, the local police will inquire in to the matter,” he added.

Preliminary inquires have revealed that the officer was staying alone in his quarters as his family is based in Hyderabad. He was posted in the Advanced Headquarters of Eastern Command in Fort William, Kolkata.

A senior Kolkata police officer said, “We have informed his family members and they will reach Kolkata on Sunday itself. It is too early to comment on the matter. We are investigating the case and are trying to get details on what he did and whom he met last night. We are also trying to get his phone records.”
