AIDS Awareness March by Town Midnapore Students

Midnapore: Jawahar Nabodaya school of Mednipore town was participated in an AIDS awareness march to commemorate the World AIDS day on Tuesday morning. Principal-in-Charge of the school, AK Mallick had said, “254 Students of 6th standard participated in the march.”

The march begun at 9 a.m from the school at Murakata and returned through Fulpahar road passing the Vidyasagar Bishwabidyalaya. They have covered a distance about 5 kms. Upheld some AIDS Prevention Slogans, they also distributed AIDS Prevention leaflets. The students also participated in an extempore competition regarding AIDS after returning from the AIDS march.

World AIDS Day, designated on December 1 every year since 1988, is dedicated to aware the people about the causes of AIDS pandemic. Through HIV infection many have died so far because of the disease. In this context, AIDS Day is the day of mourning also. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world observe the day. Try to educate the general people on AIDS prevention and control. AIDS has killed more than 36 million people worldwide (1981-2012), and an estimated 35.3 million people are now living with HIV. It is one of the most important global public health issues in the present world.
