New Delhi: Several Air India flights have been delayed on Friday over a protest by Air India commanders. Air India commanders have resorted to 'go slow' to protest their exclusion from workmen category. Flight operations have been affected due to this protest.
Sources said that the pilots had put up a protest against civil aviation ministry's decision to amend the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 so as to remove pilots and engineers from the category of "workmen". The move would deny them protection granted during labour strife.
"The AI pilots had also expressed their displeasure over the airline's decison to appoint Capt Harpreet Singh as the new executive director, flight safety," said an AI official.
