Kolkata: An Air India passenger jet going to Delhi from Hong Kong made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport due to problem in one of its engine mid-air on Tuesday evening.
The pilots of the passenger jet carrying 158 passengers reportedly choose to terminate the flight and land in Kolkata airport after the right engine of the plane started malfunctioning mid-air.
The snag-hit Boeing 787-800 (Dreamliner) plane is now grounded at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, sources said.
An Air India spokesperson in Delhi said that the aircraft made a precautionary landing at around 2015 hours, and all passengers have been deplaned safely.
As per reports, all the passengers are safe. Engineers have started looking for the problem in engine and the passengers will be moved to Delhi by another plane at 11:30 pm.
