AFSPA extended to 12 more districts in Arunachal Pradesh


Itanagar: Twelve more districts in Arunachal Pradesh will come under AFSPA, according to a March 27 notification by the Home Ministry on the issue, as per the reports.

The notification by Joint Secretary (MHA) Shambu Singh has declared all districts bordering neighbouring state Assam as ‘disturbed area’ under Setion 3 of the law for one year, says the report. Earlier three districts – Tirap, Changlang and Longding where Naga insurgents were active was under the law.

A resurgent NDFB(S) in the region has given rise to serious law and order problem.
