Mumbai: Actor Aditya Pancholi has been sentenced to a one-year imprisonment for assaulting his neighbour in Mumbai.
Magistrate Amitabh Panchbhai of Andheri court today sentenced the actor to jail for one year and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000. The incident as reported took place in 2005.
Speaking about the incident, Pancholi said that the complainant used to live in his society as a tenant and he did not know about it.
“One day, a friend of mine had come to visit me. He found the parking spot empty and parker his car there. The tenant came and parked his car right in front of my friend’s car, blocking its way”, Pancholi said. When Pancholi came down to see his friend’s car blocked, the complainant alleged that he was assaulted “unprovoked” by Pancholi.
The complainant had claimed that he had suffered fracture injuries, and had suffered a bleeding nose due to the assault. Pancholi, on the other hand, says that the claim of the fractured limb and assault was an “afterthought as that was why the case was registered a day later.”
