Kolkata: Trinamool Youth Congress chief Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, filed a defamation suit against Amit Shah on Wednesday, alleging that the BJP president has made slanderous statements against him at a public rally on August 12 in Kolkata.
On Wednesday, Abhishek was present to file case in the City Sessions Court in Kolkata. A public rally of Bhartiya Yuva Morcha was held on 12 August at Mayo Road. The main speaker of the meeting was Amit Shah. There he made derogatory remarks against Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee.
The Trinamool alleged that Amit Shah, who verbally attacked against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from that meeting, is baseless. So after the meeting, Amit Shah was asked to apologize to Trinamool. After given 72 hours, BJP did not make any comment about it. The legal notice was sent to Amit Shah after that.
But the answer was not given by the state BJP or Amit Shah. Recently Abhishek Banerjee attended a meeting in Bishnupur. There he informed that after the state mourning of late Vajpayee completed, he would file a defamation suit against Amit Shah. On Wednesday, he appeared before the court and filed the case.
