AAP govt sets aside 500 crores for advertisements


New Delhi:The opposition parties have attacked the AAP government for hiking allocation for information and publicity saying that sending of public money on ‘self-publicity amounted to corruption.

The AAP government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has set aside over Rs 500 crore to fund its radio advertisements in which Kejriwal will address the people of Delhi about the undertakings of the government.

The ads will run with the tagline ‘Jo Kaha, So Kiya’, will be referring to the pre-poll promises of the party and the steps undertaken to implement them.

Congress Leader Ajay Maken said, “They (Delhi government) have set aside Rs 526 crore just for information and publicity and last year only Rs 24 crore was spent for the same. “They have cut budget from various other infrastructure development works and they are spending money on their own party workers and consultants. Is it not a form of corruption by spending more money on self-publicity? ”
