Aabesh Death Case: 1 More Arrested


Kolkata: An alcohol businessman was arrested on Thursday over the mysterious death of Aabesh Das Gupta at Sunny Park Apartments in South Kolkata.

The investigation on Aabesh Dasgupta’s tragic death, hence, gets a new turn. The owner of the alcohol shop, along with 2 of its workers, from whom Aabesh and his friends allegedly bought alcohol on the day when he died, were arrested on Wednesday for selling alcohol to buyers who are less that 21 years of age. The police had got hold of CCTV footages following which the arrests had been made. Another person was arrested on Thursday from Tollyguange by officers from the Tollyguange police station. The accused has been booked by the police under the Juvenile Act and the Bengal Excise Act. Thus the total number of arrests made till Thursday stand as 4.

But Aabesh Dasgupta’s family suspect a different conspiracy behind this. They have stated that arresting alcohol shop owners or workers are not a solution which would help with the investigation. They have also accused that the investigation is not proceeding in the rightful way. They suspect that the investigation is being moved to another angle.

On 23rd July, Aabesh Dasgupta, a class 12 student, was found bleeding at the parking lot of the Sunny Park apartments in Ballyguange. He had attended a surpirse birthday party of eminent author Amit Choudhury’s daughter. When he was immediately rushed to the AMRI, Dhakuria, he was declared brought dead. Post the incident, the police is on with their investigation. Preliminary reports of post-mortem has already come which point towards accidental death. But Aabesh’s mother Rimjhim Dasgupta refused to accept her son’s death as accidental. She firmly believes that her son was murdered.
