Police Denies Involvement In Farakka Man’s Death

Baharampur: Bengal police denied that the person killed in Farakka was due to police firing. ADG (law and order) Anuj Sharma said in a press conference in Kolkata that police had fired three rounds in the air and so none was injured in the police firing.

Sharma said nine policemen were injured when a mob attacked the police, including the IC of Farakka who is undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Sharma said that the body of the killed person was found about 200 feet away from the spot with multiple injuries. He said that probe is on to ascertain the cause of his death. The post mortem will be conducted on Monday.

Sharma did not rule out the possibility of the man being hit by stones or bomb thrown by the demonstrators.
