Kolkata: The newly-elected mayor wants to make the city green. So, soon after taking oath, he made some announcements for the citizens. He said that by planting trees, 90 percent tax discount will be given.
After assuming office, Firhad said that the new initiative is being taken by keeping Mamata Banerjee’s ‘Save Green Stay Clean’ message in mind. He also said that the discount will be given by following the rules of law.
Besides planting of trees, if one takes initiative to preserve water bodies, then in that case also the same tax discount will be given. It will also be given if fertilizers are made out of the wastes of the high-rises. He has asked everyone to keep the city pollution-free.
Firhad Hakim also thanked former mayor Sovan Chatterjee. He also said that after the results were declared, chief minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated him.
West Bengal minister and TMC candidate Firhad Hakim on Monday secured 121 votes in the 144-member Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to win the mayoral election.
