Shillong: Mohun Bagan play out a roller coaster match at the foothills of Shillong on Friday. High on a win against Bengaluru FC, the expectations were high on Sanjoy Sen’s boys on this day. Balwant Singh scored two early goals for the green and maroons on the second and the fifteenth minute. But the luck did not stay with Sen’s boys for long. Cornel Glen of Shillong Lajong FC sent the ball inside the MB net on the twenty seventh minute. The first half ended with MB leading 2 goals to one.
In the second half, Lajong relaid their attack. Repeated throughs and crosses set in discomfort in the MB defence. Getting caught offguard, Mohun Bagan gifted a penalty to the Lajong FC. Glen did not make any mistake in making the score 2-2.
Mohun Bagan pulled up their socks and started playing attacking football. Soon the Japanese winger, Katsumi Yusa headed a ball inside the Lajong net. Mohun Bagan took their goal tally to three. Soon after the third goal a mistake from the Lajong defender made way for a Mohun Bagan penalty. Pierre Boya scored the fourth goal for Sanjoy Sen’s team. Although Ulliam Silva scored the third goal for the Shillong side in the 90th minute, they couldnot salvage a point from the match. The final score board displayed SLFC-3 Mohun Bagan-4. The away win is surely to boost up the confidence of the players ahead of the match against Dempo at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa.
