8 MLAs’ Leaving Congress For CM Sangma


Shillong : Congress got into a crisis as the party loses its 8 MLA before the election, according to the source. They might join the NDA on Friday. Election will happen in March.

With due disappointments on the Chief Mnister Mukul Sangma they are leaving the party. Instead of joining BJP they are enlisting at NNP (National Peoples’ Party). The former Loksabha speaker (1996-1998) Purno Agitok Sangma was the founder of National Peoples’ Party who died in 2016.

He established NNP after leaving National Congress Party. He was the Chief Minister of Meghalaya during 1988-1990. The earlier leader of National Congress Party and former deputy chief minister R.Lingdo. In a conversation with PTI he said that, NNP is more democratic than Congress.

On the other side,NNP head W.Kharluki informed that we are heartily greeting the decision of the leaders and those who will decide a bit later.

Inferior days are waiting for Congress in Meghalaya as some leaders might join the local party PPC after leaving Congress.The legislative assembly of Meghalaya holds 60 members. Presently Congress has 30 MLAs’.

The opponent party BJP is holding 2 seats in the north-east scenario. To come into power in the next legislative election BJP is trying hard and taking the wise help of the important figure of North-East and Education and Health Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma.
