Berhampore: Seven Bangladeshi cow smugglers were arrested by Murshidabad’s Suti police, while trying to smuggle cows at night.
The incident took place late on Wednesday night at Murshidabad’s Suti’s Naya Bahadurpur area. 15 cows were recovered from them. On a tip off, the police raided the border area late at night. The police were successful and recovered 15 cows. The arrested were produced in the court on Thursday.
According to police sources, the seven smugglers have been identified as Nasib, Alauddin, Mohammad Sohel, Mohammad Parul Islam, Mohammad Palash, Murselam and Babu Sheikh. All of them are residents of Bangladesh’s Chapainbabganj under the Shibganj police station area.
The arrested had come to India few days back and started living here permanently. The police are trying to find out whether anyone else is involved in cow smuggling or not.
