Adelaide: With his baritone, superstar Amitabh Bachchan on February 15 made an impressive commentary debut in the high-voltage India-Pakistan World Cup cricket match. The legendary actor started off his on-air stint with former Indian captain Kapil Dev and Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar in the pre-match show.

Bachchan 72, blended easily into the commentary box with Akash Chopra and Akhtar. His sharp voice and quirky comments seemed to pick up the ropes of commentary pretty quickly.

Mr. Bachchan proved that with each new avatar he opts for, he blends into it very easily.  Kapil joined the towering Bollywood legend in the box soon after, thoroughly encouraging him to keep up the good work.

Amitabh, who seemed to have enjoyed his first-ever commentary, was rejected from All India Radio (AIR) in late 1960’s just before he tried his luck in acting.  ‘’Thank you for having me here. It was a unique opportunity for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hope India wins,” Amitabh (who spoke in Hindi) signed off.
