New Delhi: After the Ryan International School Case, another shocking incident came from Delhi. A six-year-old girl was raped inside a private school in south Delhi by a school employee on Wednesday afternoon.
Police have arrested the accused who is a house keeping staff and had joined three months ago. The incident comes nearly a month after a 7 year old boy. Pradyuman Thakur, was killed inside the toilet of Ryan International School in Gurugram allegedly by a bus conductor.
The incident came to light when the child returned home from school and told her mother. The child was rushed to AIIMS where the doctors confirmed that she had been raped.
The latest incident exposes the vulnerability of schoolchildren towards sexual crimes in schools. Delhi police had recently promised to improve security and conduct character verification of every school employee across the city.
The latest case was reported on Wednesday afternoon when the 6 year-old-girl, a student of Class 1 had gone to the girl’s washroom inside her school. According to the complaint by her parents, the child returned home at 2.30pm and told her mother about the incident. The parents then reached the school and informed the principal, after which police were called.
The child’s father said the woman employee who was supposed to assist children was not in the washroom at the time. A case of rape and under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act(POCSO) was registered. Doctors reportedly told the girl’s parents that she will have to undergo a surgery to treat her internal wounds.
