As per sources in the VPT, the vessel was charted to export iron billets of RINL and about 1200 MT of billets were loaded when the vessel listed, as the balance of the weight shifted to one side. The ballast tank of the vessel was emptied before the loading began on Wednesday.

According to VPT Chairman M.T. Krishnababu, there was nothing to worry and efforts are on to remove the loaded cargo to enable the ship to stabilise on its own. However, sources said the cargo was not lashed properly and it slipped to one side to tilt the vessel.
