456 VRCs set up to demonstrate the potential of satellite technology

New Delhi: To demonstrate the potential of satellite technology for development of rural areas, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has so far set up 456 Village Resource Centres (VRCs). This information was provided by MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Lok Sabha on February 26

He further informed that these VRCs have been set up on a pilot scale, in association with selected NGOs, Trusts and State Government Departments. Village Resource Centres have provided various space technology enabled services such as tele-healthcare, tele-education, natural resources information etc.
