4 Poachers Including Assam Rifle Jawan Held in Jalpaiguri


Jalpaiguri: Scoring a major success against an international poaching ring forest official on Saturday nabbed four poachers including a jawan of Assam Rifles from West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district. 

The poachers are believed to be the resident of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, said police. A huge cache of arms and ammunition have also been seized from them. Forest officials said that the poachers have gathered to hunt rhino in the Jaldapara National Park.

An international racket of rhino poacher is active in Assam and West Bengal and have so far killed many rhinos in Kaziranga National Park. Forest officials said that the arrests area a major break-through and will pave the way to eliminate the racket.
