Kolkata: The four-day celebrations of Chhath Puja conclude this morning with offering prayers to the rising sun in different parts of the country. After offering prayers to Sun God, devotees broke their 36 hours fast and Prasad was distributed among the people.
Devotees started gathering at Ghats of Ganga early this morning. A large number of devotees offered prayers to the Sun God at various sun temples also.
Amid strains of folk songs dedicated to the Sun god and the aroma of traditional offerings filling the air, the four-day Chhath festival began on Tuesday with the ghats in the national capital being decked up for devotees. Observed on the sixth day (hence called “Chhath”) after Diwali, it is celebrated to pay obeisance to the Sun as cosmic energy.
