Kolkata: Four people including Nur Islam Fakir alias Khora Badshah, convicted in Sangrampur worst hooch tragedy. Seven of them acquitted in the case. Parthasarthi Chakraborty announced the verdict. On Friday the sentence will be announced.
In the worst hooch tragedy in the state, around 170 people died in December 2011 in Sangrampur in South 24 Parganas district after consuming toxic liquor. Nur Islam Fakir alias Khora Badsha is the main accused in that case.
On February 12, 2012, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused. The case lasted for nearly six years. Of these 56 witnesses were taken to court. In the trial, the court convicted four people.
After hearing the verdict, Khora Badshah broke down in tears outside the court. Said, ” The court has given the sentence fairly. I will appeal to High Court against this verdict. ” Public prosecutor welcomed the verdict of the court.
